May 2022 has seen a decrease of 7.12% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 2.65% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering an increase of 0.08% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 36.71% in May 2022, a 32.87% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 21.27% in May 2022, marking a 3.45% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 16.46% in May 2022, a 26.97% drop from April 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 11.17% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s pharma industry during May 2022 over previous month.
Octapharma posted 54 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered an increase of 58.82% over the previous month, followed by AstraZeneca with 39 jobs and a 105.26% growth. Bayer with 27 IT jobs and Takeda Pharmaceutical with 21 jobs, recorded a 10% drop and a 4.55% drop, respectively, while F. Hoffmann-La Roche recorded a 75.68% decline with 18 job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s pharma industry
Switzerland commanded a leading presence in the region’s pharma industry IT hiring activity with a 15.19% share in May 2022, a 9.09% increase over April 2022. The UK featured next with a 15.19% share, flat growth over the previous month. Germany recorded an 11.14% share, a drop of 30.16% compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 74.18%, down by 17.93% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 13.67% share, registered a decline of 34.15% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 12.15% share, down 4% over April 2022.
