Health and technology consulting company Nordic and BeeKeeperAI have teamed up to help expedite the use of clinical decision support systems (CDSS) in healthcare.

CDSS are tools that help doctors make better decisions by using data and AI to suggest the best treatment options for patients. The companies’ joint project, called “RightAI”, aims to connect drug companies, medical technology developers, and healthcare organisations to develop and use these AI-based tools.

This partnership aims to make it easier for hospitals and other healthcare providers to test, deploy and monitor these decision-support tools in real-world settings, like within electronic health record (EHR) systems.

RightAI also intends to expedite the process for AI developers to bring their CDSS to market. The platform will use real-world patient data to help biopharmaceutical and medical companies create these tools.

Additionally, the platform helps identify patients who are ideal candidates for clinical trials. The impact of poor recruitment on a trial is immense in terms of time and associated financial burdens, according to a report on GlobalData’s Medical Intelligence Center. AI can identify potential candidates for clinical trials by analysing vast amounts of patient data and medical records.

BeeKeeperAI’s CEO Michael Blum said: “Together with Nordic, BeeKeeperAI’s privacy-enhancing platform can address the last mile of AI/machine learning based CDSS: real-world deployment and ongoing monitoring for performance drift. The ability to develop and deploy solutions in real-world settings enhances and accelerates the impact of CDSS.

“Instead of taking years to achieve impact, RightAI will enable CDSS to impact patient outcomes in a matter of months from the start of development to impact. This acceleration will enable life-changing therapies to reach patients more quickly, fulfilling the promise of healthcare AI.”

AI is making significant strides in patient care. A recent development saw AvaSure – known for its intelligent virtual care platforms – teaming up with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and NVIDIA to develop an AI-powered virtual concierge system. This initiative is aimed at optimising hospital operations by addressing staff and patient requests in real time, reducing the burden on bedside staff, and improving overall patient care.

According to a report on GlobalData’s Medical Intelligence Center, the global AI market was worth $103bn in 2023. By 2030, it will have grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 39% to exceed $1tn.
