The city of Munich is set to play host to the 11th annual Clinical Trials in Oncology Europe 2024 conference where speakers, sponsors and guests from across the continent and beyond will converge at the Sofitel Munich Bayerpost for two days of presentations and talks.
The two-day conference will see speakers covering a myriad of subjects ranging from artificial intelligence (AI) strategy, regulations, and patient feedback. Among speakers from GlobalData’s clinical trials analytics teams, the event will play host to guests from sponsors and clinical research organisations including companies such as Sandoz and Blue Earth Therapeutics.
Among some of the day one highlights on the agenda, Frank Richard vice president of Heidelburg will take to the stage for the first talk of the conference entitled: “Establishing an AI strategy for oncology clinical trials”.
At the Outsourcing in Clinical Trials New England Conference in Boston in October, experts in the field suggested operations could be stabilised by utilising approaches with AI in tasks such as trial recruitment. Richard’s talk is set to focus on what pharmaceutical firms need to consider when choosing to adopt the technology.
Later in the first day, the main stage will host a panel discussion about reducing the imaging burden on patients. There will be speakers from Medidata and Dassault Systèmes as well as a patient advocate to discuss how patients understand imaging systems plus some do’s and do not’s when handling their data. Exacerbated by a worldwide shortage of imaging specialists such as radiologists, the imaging and scanning process in trials can present a number of hurdles for patients, usually requiring them to make multiple trips to specialists. As a result, a number of technology firms, such as NVIDIA, are trying to break into the space to smooth out the process.
Along the same theme, the morning of day two will include a talk presented by a senior solutions consultant for US trial technology company Suvoda, Daniela Duffet, on streamlining clinical processes for the benefit of patients. The session will identifying stressors for patients and look at technological solutions aimed at reducing workloads across sites. It follows after Suvoda launched its own purpose-built software platform designed to provide a seamless way for drug trial sponsors and sites to manage data across sites.
