Australia’s pharma industry registered a 7.9% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 22.63% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.08% share in September 2022, recording a decrease of 0.21% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Australia’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.73% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s pharma industry in September 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 36.36% in September 2022, registering a 20% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 25% share, a decrease of 15.38% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 15.91%, registering a 30% decline from August 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 11.36%, down 54.55% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 22.45% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s pharma industry during September 2022 over August 2022.

Ministry of Health, New South Wales, Australia posted 22 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a drop of 40.54% over the previous month, followed by Healius with 7 jobs and a 75% growth. Queensland Children’s Hospital with 5 IT jobs and Ramsay Health Care with 3 jobs, recorded a 150% growth and a 25% decrease, respectively, while CSL recorded a decline of 50% with 1 job postings during September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 86.36%, down by 19.15% from August 2022. Entry Level positions with a 9.09% share, registered a decline of 20% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 4.55% share, down 77.78% over August 2022.
