Management Occupations, with a share of 27%, emerged as the top cell & gene therapy-related job roles within the pharmaceutical industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings drop by 10% quarter-on-quarter. Life, Physical, and Social Science Occupations came in second with a share of 23% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 13% over the previous quarter.

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Bristol-Myers Squibb, Ferring Pharmaceuticals, AstraZeneca, Genscript Biotech, and WuXi AppTec. Together they accounted for a combined share of 52% of all cell & gene therapy-related new jobs in the pharmaceutical industry.
Bristol-Myers Squibb posted 1,146 cell & gene therapy-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Ferring Pharmaceuticals 222 jobs, AstraZeneca 153 jobs, Genscript Biotech 121 jobs, and WuXi AppTec 99 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 76.81% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
The largest share of cell & gene therapy-related new job postings in the pharmaceutical industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 76.81% followed by India (5.60%) and the UK (3.80%). The share represented by the US was six percentage points higher than the 71.30% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
